Let’s Make DIY Chamomile Cream for Sensitive Skin

Spoons Explained!

In some articles, we use spoon measurements for non-liquid ingredients. These terms apply to both tablespoons and teaspoons:

  • One Spoon: Ingredient filled and leveled in a measuring spoon.
  • Rounded Spoon: Ingredient slightly piled above the spoon’s edge.
  • Heaped Spoon: Ingredient scooped as high as possible on the spoon.
  • Slightly Heaped Spoon: A bit more than a rounded spoon but not overly heaped.

First, Make Fine Chamomile Powder

1- Gather Dried Chamomile Flowers: Start with dried chamomile flowers. If needed, separate the flowers from any stems or leaves to ensure you only use the blooms. You’ll need enough flowers to make 1/2 heaped teaspoon of fine powder after grinding, so start with a small amount of flowers.

2- Use a Grinder: Place the dried chamomile flowers in a spice grinder, blender, or food processor.

3- Check the Consistency: Grind until you achieve a fine powder. It should be similar to the texture of flour or matcha powder.

4- Sift the Powder: Sift the ground chamomile through a fine mesh strainer to remove any larger particles. Return any larger pieces to the grinder for further processing.

8- As an optional step, cut the tip of a vitamin E capsule (suitable for skincare) and squeeze 3 drops into the blend. Vitamin E will protect the cream from oxidation and rancidity, improving its nourishing properties.

9- Give the mixture a final thorough stir to ensure everything is evenly mixed.

10- Pour the chamomile cream into a small container for storage, and you’re done!

Using It Right

a. Patch Test First: Before using the cream for the first time, conduct a patch test on a small area of skin to check for any allergic reactions.

b. Cleanse Your Skin: Start with a gentle cleanser to remove impurities and prepare your skin for the cream. Pat your face dry with a clean towel before application.

c. Apply Generously: Take a small amount of the chamomile cream and warm it between your fingers. Gently massage it onto your face and neck in upward circular motions.

d. Leave It On: Allow the cream to sit on your skin for about 30 minutes to maximize its benefits. This gives the ingredients time to absorb and work effectively.

e. Rinse Off: After 30 minutes, wash your face first with lukewarm water, followed by cool water to help close the pores.

f. Moisturize: After rinsing, apply your regular moisturizer to lock in hydration and maintain a soft, supple complexion.
