Gather the Gear

• Graduated measuring cup (10 ml)
• Five graduated droppers or pipettes (1 ml, 2 ml, etc.)

• Glass mixing rod
• Small plate
• Small grater to grate the necessary amount from the musk cube
• Small funnel
• Two 12-ml dark glass or amber bottle to store your finished perfume, protecting it from light. Such small perfume bottles are commonly referred to as fragrance vials or tulas.

Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.

Let’s Make the DIY Rich Oil Perfume with Musk

In this recipe, we will prepare 24 ml of concentrated oil perfume. Since our fragrance vial or tula holds 12 ml, the quantity prepared will fill two such bottles.

1- Begin by pouring 10 ml (0.34 fl oz) of odorless sweet almond carrier oil into a small container.

2- Use a graduated dropper or pipette to add the following five fragrance oils to the sweet almond oil; make sure to use a clean dropper for each oil to avoid mixing scents:

• 2 ml (0.067 fl oz) of rose fragrance oil.
• 2 ml (0.067 fl oz) of cherry fragrance oil.
• 2 ml (0.067 fl oz) of coconut fragrance oil.
• 1 ml (0.033 fl oz) of almond fragrance oil.
• 7 ml (0.24 fl oz) of amber fragrance oil.

3- Use a glass mixing rod to stir the oils for a duration of 2 minutes.

4- Use a small grater to grate 2 grams (0.07 oz) from the musk cube onto a small plate.

5- Pour the grated musk powder onto the oils.

6- Stir the mixture thoroughly.

7- As an optional step, you can color the oil perfume: in a separate small container, mix well a small amount of sweet almond carrier oil with a touch of oil-soluble color powder. Add a drop of the color mixture to the oil perfume blend and stir thoroughly. Do not add the color powder directly to the perfume.

8- To protect the oil perfume from oxidation and rancidity, consider adding 0.5 grams (0.017 oz) of vitamin E and stir well. This helps to extend its shelf life and maintain its quality over time.

9- Use a small funnel to fill two fragrance vials (tulas) with the finished oil perfume.

a. Test for Allergies: Before full application, test one drop on an area of skin like the inside of your wrist or elbow. Wait for 24 hours to check for any allergic reactions or sensitivities. Look out for redness, itching, swelling, or irritation; if any occur, avoid using the product.

b. Apply Sparingly: Start with just one drop of the oil perfume on pulse points, such as your wrists, behind your ears, and on your neck. This concentrated perfume goes a long way.
