DIY Blue Nila Body Butter—Indigo Powder is an excellent way to harness the nourishing benefits of blue nila, also known as indigo powder, in your skincare routine. This natural ingredient is celebrated for its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an ideal choice for keeping your skin hydrated and healthy.

In this article, you’ll learn how to create your own Blue Nila Body Butter at home using simple ingredients. Get ready to indulge in a luxurious, all-natural product that enhances your skin’s glow and provides deep hydration. Let’s explore the ingredients and tools you’ll need to get started!

Ingredients Needed

Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.

  • Solid Cocoa Butter. Alternative: Shea Butter.
  • Blue Nila Powder (Indigo Powder): Make sure it is specific to skincare.
  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Lemon Essential Oil: Don’t use lemon essential oil for sensitive skin; you can substitute it with lavender or rose essential oil.
  • Cornstarch

Tools Needed

  • Scale to weigh quantities
  • Bowl
  • Small silicone spatula
  • Small whisk
  • Electric hand mixer
  • Suitable small container to store your DIY Blue Nila Body Butter

Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.

Steps to Make DIY Blue Nila Body Butter

1- Cut solid cocoa butter into strips and place 100 grams (3.53 oz) in a bowl.

3- Gently heat and melt the ingredients using a bain-marie (hot water bath). To set up a bain-marie, place the bowl in a larger pot of hot, steaming water. This method will gradually heat and melt the contents without direct heat. Stir the mixture while it melts, and avoid letting it boil.

4- Place the bowl in the freezer or refrigerator to allow the melted ingredients to slightly harden.

6- Add 1/4 teaspoon of blue nila powder (also known as indigo powder) and mix thoroughly.

7- Add 5 drops of essential oil (I use lemon essential oil) and mix well.

8- Add 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch and mix thoroughly. The cornstarch helps reduce the oiliness of the body butter, ensuring it won’t feel oily when applied to the skin.

9- You can use the electric mixer again to ensure everything is well combined.

10- And that’s it! Your DIY blue nila body butter is finished.

How to Use DIY Blue Nila Body Butter

a. Scoop Out the Body Butter: Begin by taking a small amount of blue nila body butter using your fingers or a spatula. Start with a dime-sized amount, as you can always add more if needed.

b. Warm It Up in Your Hands: Rub the body butter between your palms to warm it slightly. This will help it melt and spread more easily on your skin.

c. Apply to Skin: Gently massage the melted body butter into your skin using circular motions. Pay extra attention to rough or dry areas, such as elbows, knees, and heels, where hydration is particularly beneficial.

d. Allow It to Absorb: After application, allow the body butter a few moments to absorb fully into your skin. This will enhance its moisturizing effects and leave your skin feeling soft and supple.

e. Use as Needed: Feel free to use the blue nila body butter daily or as often as needed, especially after bathing or whenever your skin feels dry. It’s perfect for maintaining hydration and comfort throughout the day!
