Why You’ll Love This DIY

DIY Body Scrub with Green Tea and Sugar is a simple, effective enhancement for your skincare. Green tea is loaded with antioxidants that help protect the skin from environmental damage, while sugar acts as a gentle exfoliator, removing dead skin cells to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. This scrub is also great for soothing irritated skin, making it suitable for all skin types.

With just a few ingredients, you can create a refreshing face and body scrub that leaves your skin feeling soft and rejuvenated. The subtle scent of green tea, combined with a hint of jasmine fragrance, elevates your experience, turning an everyday skincare step into a spa-like treat.

Gather the Ingredients

Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.

  • White Sugar:
Use fine white sugar for a face scrub to ensure gentle exfoliation. For a body scrub, regular white sugar provides effective exfoliation on rougher areas.
  • Pure Olive Oil
  • Pure Green Tea:
This high-quality green tea is available in loose-leaf form, consisting of broken leaves that are coarser than powder. It offers a fresh flavor and the ability to customize the quantity for your DIY body scrub. If convenience is preferred, you can also use the contents of a pure green tea sachet—like Twinings. For today’s recipe, you will need 4 grams (0.14 ounce) of green tea, which is equivalent to the contents of two Twinings sachets.
  • Jasmine Fragrance Oil
  • Light Green Mica Powder
  • Dried Jasmine Flowers (Optional)

Did You Know?

Green tea has been enjoyed for thousands of years, with its origins dating back to ancient China around 2737 BC. Legend has it that Emperor Shen Nong discovered it when leaves accidentally fell into his boiling water.

Rich in antioxidants and catechins, green tea helps combat oxidative stress and may reduce the risk of chronic diseases. It also boasts anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for soothing irritated skin and promoting hydration. Additionally, drinking green tea can support metabolism and aid in weight management, making it a wonderful addition to your wellness journey!

Using It Right

a. Avoid Introducing Water: Do not allow water to come into contact with the scrub in the container. This can compromise the scrub’s effectiveness and lead to spoilage.

b. Prep Your Skin: Start with damp skin to ensure the scrub glides smoothly. You can use it in the shower or after a warm bath for the best results.

c. Scoop the Scrub: Take a small amount of the scrub in your hand or use a scoop for easier application.

d. Gently Exfoliate:

  • For the Body: Apply the scrub in circular motions, focusing on areas that need extra attention, like elbows, knees, and rough patches.
  • For the Face: Use lighter pressure and smaller circular motions to avoid irritation.

e. Rinse Thoroughly: After exfoliating, rinse off the scrub with warm water, ensuring that no residue remains on your skin.

f. Moisturize: Follow up with a moisturizer or body lotion to lock in hydration and keep your skin feeling soft and nourished.

g. Frequency: Use the scrub 1-2 times a week for best results, adjusting frequency based on your skin’s sensitivity and needs.

By following these steps, you can enjoy the full benefits of your DIY body scrub while keeping your skin healthy and glowing!
