Natural Jelly:
You can make DIY Natural Jelly at home using all-natural ingredients. In that article, patchouli essential oil is included in the recipe to make the jelly suitable for application on the whole body. However, for today’s lip gloss recipe, please omit the use of essential oils. Let’s Make DIY Lip Gloss for Fuller Hydrated Lips
Spoons Explained!
In some articles, we use spoon measurements for non-liquid ingredients. These terms apply to both tablespoons and teaspoons:
- One Spoon: Ingredient filled and leveled in a measuring spoon.
- Rounded Spoon: Ingredient slightly piled above the spoon’s edge.
- Heaped Spoon: Ingredient scooped as high as possible on the spoon.
- Slightly Heaped Spoon: A bit more than a rounded spoon but not overly heaped.
1- Begin by placing 1 heaped teaspoon of natural jelly (or Vaseline pure petroleum jelly) in a stainless steel cup.
2- Add 4 teaspoons of sweet almond oil over the natural jelly.
3- Gently heat and melt the ingredients using a bain-marie (hot water bath). To set up a bain-marie, place the cup in a larger pot partially filled with hot, steaming water. This method will gradually heat and melt the contents without direct heat. Stir the mixture while it melts, and avoid boiling.
4- Keep the cup in the bain-marie and continue stirring until the natural jelly has completely liquefied.
5- Once the mixture has liquefied, remove the cup from the bain-marie, and allow it to cool and settle for 15-20 minutes.
6- After 15-20 minutes, stir the mixture and assess its consistency: If it is too viscous, add a couple of drops of sweet almond oil and stir well. Repeat this process until you achieve the desired consistency, as shown in the image below. This DIY Lip Gloss for Fuller Hydrated Lips should be creamy rather than liquid.
7- Add 1/2 teaspoon of natural aloe vera gel to the mixture.
8- Use a wooden popsicle stick to stir the ingredients thoroughly.
9- With the tip of a wooden popsicle stick, add a small amount of red mica color powder. Keep in mind that lip gloss is not the same as lipstick; therefore, its color should be subtle.
10- Stir the mixture well.
11- Before scooping the mixture into a container, allow it to sit in the cup until the next morning to assess its consistency. If it is too dense, add a couple of drops of sweet almond oil and stir the mixture well.
12- Scoop the mixture into a small glass container for storage, and you’re done!
