If you’re looking for a simple and effective solution to remove makeup, DIY natural makeup removers are the way to go. They provide a gentle alternative to commercial products, which often contain harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin. By using natural ingredients, you can ensure a soothing experience while effectively cleansing your face.
Making your own makeup remover is not only easy but also cost-effective. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a product tailored to your skin’s needs. This means no more worrying about synthetic additives or allergens that could disrupt your skin’s balance.
In this article, we’ll guide you through a straightforward recipe for crafting your own natural makeup remover at home. Let’s dive in and discover how simple it is to make your own DIY makeup remover!
Ingredients Needed
Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.
- Cream Base, pure with no additives. You can buy it in 500g or 1 kilogram, and it has no extracts, oils, fragrance or color added to it. It is a pure cream base to which we add any of these additives as we desire.
- Vegetable Glycerin, which is great in hydrating the skin.
- Fractionated Coconut Oil. We have to use the fractionated coconut oil because it doesn’t freeze in cold weather. It stays liquid in cold and warm weather.
- Lavender Essential Oil. If not available, you can use the tea tree essential oil which has a cleansing effect on the skin.
- Mica Color Powder– Optional. You will need a small quantity of sweet almond oil to dissolve the mica powder in, if you wish to add some color to the makeup remover.
Items Needed
- Scale to weigh quantities
- Glass bowl
- Glass mixing rod
- Small bottle or container to store your DIY Natural Makeup Remover
Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.
Steps: DIY Natural Makeup Remover
1- Begin by placing 50 grams (1.76 oz) of cream base in a bowl.
2- Add 1 gram (0.035 oz) of vegetable glycerin to the cream base.
3- Pour in 5 grams (0.17 oz) of fractionated coconut oil.
4- Add 3 drops of lavender essential oil to the ingredients.
5- If you’d like to add color to your makeup remover, mix a little mica powder with a small quantity of sweet almond oil in a separate bowl, stirring well to fully dissolve the powder. Once blended, add a few drops of this color solution to the makeup remover mixture. If you prefer a more natural look, feel free to leave it uncolored; the final product will have a lovely white appearance.
6- Mix well and you’re done! That’s how easy it is.
7- Scoop the DIY Natural Makeup Remover into a suitable bottle or small box.
How to Use DIY Natural Makeup Remover
Using your DIY natural makeup remover is simple and effective. Follow these steps for the best results:
a. Apply to Cotton Pad: Start by soaking a cotton pad or reusable makeup remover cloth with your homemade makeup remover. Ensure it’s damp but not dripping.
b. Gently Wipe Off Makeup: Press the soaked pad gently against your skin, allowing it to sit for a few seconds to dissolve the makeup. Then, wipe it away in a soft, sweeping motion. For stubborn makeup, you may need to hold the pad on the area a little longer.
c. Rinse if Desired: If you prefer, you can follow up with a splash of water or a gentle rinse to remove any residue, although this is optional.
d. Store Properly: After use, store any leftover makeup remover in a cool, dry place to maintain its freshness.
e. Follow with Skincare: Complete your routine by applying your favorite moisturizer or skincare products to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.
