Steps: DIY Aloe Vera Extract
First, Let’s Collect the Aloe Vera Gel
We need 100 grams (3.52 oz) of aloe vera gel.
1- Thoroughly rinse the aloe vera leaves under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris from the surface.
2- Using a clean knife or scissors, carefully cut off the sharp edges or thorns along the sides of the aloe vera leaves.
3- With the trimmed leaves, carefully slice them lengthwise, starting from the base and ending at the tip. This will open up the leaf, exposing the inner gel.
4- Use a spoon or a clean knife to gently scoop out the translucent gel from the opened leaf. Be cautious not to include any yellowish sap (aloe latex) as it can be a laxative and may cause skin irritation for some individuals.
5- Collect the extracted gel in a clean beaker. We need 100 grams (3.52 oz) .
Now, We Prepare the Extract
6- Add 150 grams (5.29 oz) of distilled water over the extracted gel in the beaker.
7- Using an electric hand mixer, whip up the contents thoroughly.
8- Using a sieve, filter the mix into a glass container or jar.
9- Add 10 grams (0.35 oz) of medical alcohol 96%.
10- Add 30 grams (1.05 oz) of vegetable glycerine.
11- Using a small spatula, mix well the contents.
12- Add 1 gram (0.035 oz) of phenoxyethanol preservative.
13- Mix well.
