Looking for a natural way to nourish and rejuvenate your skin? Look no further than this DIY face serum recipe! Using simple, all-natural ingredients like jojoba oil, hazelnut oil, lavender oil, and rose oil, this serum can help hydrate, soothe, and protect your skin.

Whether you’re looking to address fine lines and wrinkles, reduce redness and inflammation, or simply give your complexion a radiant boost, this homemade serum is the perfect solution. So why not give it a try and see the difference it can make for your skin?

Ingredients Needed

Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.

The recipe uses the following carrier oils:

  • Jojoba Oil
  • Hazelnut Oil
  • Lavender Oil
  • Rose Oil

Jojoba oil is an excellent all-purpose oil that closely mimics the natural oils in our skin, making it a great base for any serum.

Meanwhile, hazelnut oil is rich in antioxidants and can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory properties and can soothe irritated skin, while rose oil is prized for its ability to hydrate and improve skin tone.

Tools Needed

  • Bowl or cup
  • Tablespoon
  • Small glass bottle with an eyedropper to store your DIY Face Serum

Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.

How To Use The DIY Face Serum

Before applying the serum to your face, it is recommended to do a patch test on a small area of skin (like behind your ear or on your wrist) to ensure you don’t have an adverse reaction to any of the carrier oils.

a. Start with a dry and clean face: Use a cleanser to remove any oil or dirt on your face.

b. Apply a toner (optional): If you use a toner in your skincare routine, apply it to help prepare your face for the serum.

c. Apply the serum: Take a small amount of serum and gently massage it onto your face using circular motions. Wait for your skin to fully absorb the serum.

d. Follow with a moisturizer: After the serum is absorbed, use a moisturizer to lock in hydration, ensuring your skin feels soft and supple.

e. Use sunscreen: If you’re going outside during the day, apply sunscreen to protect your skin from UV damage.

f. Frequency of use: You don’t have to use the serum daily. Focus on what your skin needs and adjust accordingly.

Benefits

The DIY face serum provides the following benefits:

Hydrates your skin: Jojoba and hazelnut oils are excellent moisturizers. Jojoba oil mimics the skin’s natural sebum, providing hydration without clogging pores, while hazelnut oil balances oil production, making it suitable for both dry and oily skin types. Together, they help keep your skin plump and nourished.

Has anti-aging properties: The blend of lavender and rose oils works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Lavender oil promotes skin regeneration and soothes inflammation, while rose oil is rich in antioxidants that combat free radicals, preventing premature aging.

Promotes a natural glow: The combination of oils helps improve the skin’s texture and tone. Jojoba oil restores your skin’s natural radiance, while rose oil enhances brightness, giving your skin a fresh, dewy appearance.

Enhances your makeup routine: By applying the serum before makeup, it acts as a natural primer, creating a smooth, even surface. It reduces dryness and flakiness, ensuring that your makeup goes on more evenly and lasts longer.

Is highly customizable: This DIY face serum can be tailored to your skin’s specific needs. For example, you can swap ingredients based on your skin type:

  • For sensitive skin: Omit hazelnut oil and instead add soothing alternatives like green tea oil or chamomile oil, which are known for their calming and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • For dry skin: You can replace jojoba oil with fractionated coconut oil for extra hydration and moisture retention, as fractionated coconut oil is light, non-greasy, and deeply nourishing for dry skin.
