- Lavender Fragrance oil
- Rose fragrance oil
- Mica color powder. Use white color since we are making a bridal scent.
Notes on Ingredients
Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.
When an essential oil is included, I use either concentrated or diluted essential oils. If using concentrated essential oils, use up to 0.5% by weight to ensure safety for all skin types. To use diluted essential oils, mix 1 gram (0.035 oz) of concentrated essential oil with 100 grams (3.5 oz) of sweet almond oil or jojoba oil.
If a recipe calls for fragrance oil, you can use diluted essential oil instead to benefit from both its scent and therapeutic effects. This provides a natural alternative to synthetic fragrance oils and offers additional benefits.
Tools Needed
- Scale to weigh quantities
- Bowl
- Small silicone or wooden spatula
- Wooden popsicle stick
- An attractive glass container to store the DIY Creamy Perfume with Lavender and Musk, keeping in mind it is intended to be used by a bride.
Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.
Steps: DIY Creamy Perfume with Lavender and Musk
1- Start by cutting a musk cube into pieces, or by grating it.
2- Put 30 grams (1.05 oz) of musk in a bowl.
3- Add 100 grams (3.52 oz) of lavender carrier oil.
4- Add two grams (0.07 oz) of odorless beeswax pellets.
5- Gently heat and melt the ingredients in a bain-marie (hot water bath). A bain-marie is made by placing the bowl in a larger pot of hot, steaming water. This will gradually heat and melt the contents. Make sure to stir while the mixture is melting.
6- Using the tip of a wooden popsicle stick, add a small amount of white mica powder.
7- Mix the mica powder thoroughly.
8- Allow the mixture to cool down slightly. This step is crucial before adding the fragrance oils, as excessive heat can cause the oils to evaporate. To check if it has cooled sufficiently, simply hold the bowl in your hands. When it feels comfortable to hold, it’s the right temperature to add the fragrance oils.
9- You can add a total of 6-9 grams (0.21-0.31 oz) of fragrance oils to the quantity of musk, lavender carrier oil, and beeswax used. Adjust the amount based on your preference for scent strength, but stay within this range.
- Add 4 grams (0.14 oz) of lavender fragrance oil.
- Add 4 grams (0.14 oz) of rose fragrance oil.
10- Stir thoroughly with a spatula.
11- Pour the mixture into a glass container.
12- As an optional step, after the mixture has cooled down slightly, you can add dried rosebuds and a sprinkle of gold glitter for decoration.
13- Allow the creamy perfume to cool down fully, and let it settle for a week or more for the musk and fragrance oils to mature.
14- Your DIY Creamy Perfume with Lavender and Musk is now done!
