Ingredients Needed
Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.
- Cocoa Butter
- Natural Beeswax
- Jasmine Carrier Oil: You can either buy it pre-made or make it yourself using the method outlined in our article Simple DIY Jasmine Carrier Oil. Just keep in mind that it will take about 3 weeks for the jasmine carrier oil to be ready for use.
- Mica Color Powder: Light purple or pearly white.
- Jasmine Fragrance Oil
- Liquid Vitamin E
Tools Needed
- Scale to weigh quantities
- Medium stainless steel cup
- Wooden popsicle stick
- Small silicone spatula
- Suitable glass container to store your DIY Jasmine Body Butter
Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.
Steps: DIY Jasmine Body Butter Recipe
1- Begin by placing 25 grams (0.88 oz) of cocoa butter in a medium stainless steel cup.
2- Add 5 grams (0.17 oz) of natural beeswax to the cocoa butter.
3- Pour in 20 grams (0.70 oz) of jasmine carrier oil.
4- Gently heat and melt the ingredients in a bain-marie (hot water bath). Set up a bain-marie by placing the cup in a larger pot partially filled with hot, steaming water. Stir while the mixture is melting and avoid boiling.
5- Use a wooden popsicle stick to scoop up a small amount of mica color powder, add it to the mixture, and stir with a spatula. I’m using light purple to balance the yellow tones, but pearly white is also a great option as it complements the jasmine flower.
6- Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding the fragrance oil in the next step to prevent any evaporation.
7- After the mixture has slightly cooled, add 10 drops of jasmine fragrance oil.
8- Stir the ingredients thoroughly.
9- Add 3 drops of Vitamin E to the mixture.
10- Give the contents a final stir to ensure the ingredients are well combined.
11- Pour the mixture into a suitable glass container.
12- Allow the body butter to dry. In the image below, I’ve added some glitter for decoration, which is just for photography purposes.
How to Use DIY Jasmine Body Butter
Once your DIY Jasmine Body Butter is ready, follow these simple steps for optimal use:
a. Apply Generously: Take a small amount of body butter and gently massage it into your skin using circular motions. Focus on areas that need extra hydration, such as elbows, knees, and feet.
b. For Best Results: Use the body butter after a shower or bath when your skin is still slightly damp. This helps lock in moisture and keeps your skin feeling soft throughout the day.
c. Storage Tips: Store the body butter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Use within 6-12 months for the best quality and effectiveness.
