  • Vegetable glycerine
  • Aloe vera carrier oil. You can use instead sweet almond oil or coconut oil.
  • Optional: Preservative
  • Blue Indigo powder (blue nila), intended for skincare.

Spoon Measurement Terms

In some of our articles, and for non-liquid ingredients, we use the measurements ‘One Spoon,’ ‘Rounded Spoon,’ and ‘Heaped Spoon’, to measure the quantity of ingredients, rather than precise measurements in grams or ounces. This is because adding a little more or less of the ingredient does not affect the final product. Both tablespoons and teaspoons follow these guidelines. Here’s a brief explanation of these terms:

  • One Spoon: Fill the ingredient in a measuring spoon, leveling it with a straight edge.
  • Rounded Spoon: More than a level measurement, with the ingredient piled above the spoon’s edge in a rounded shape.
  • Heaped Spoon: The non-liquid ingredient is scooped as high as possible on a spoon.

6- Add one teaspoon (6.2 grams or 0.22 oz) of vegetable glycerine.

Now, we mix the contents first with a teaspoon, then with the hands.

9- Mix the liquid ingredients thoroughly with the powdery ingredients using a teaspoon. This prevents the mixture from sticking to your hands when you knead it later on.

10- Use your hands to work and knead the mixture. Pick up some and rub it between your palms, then continue kneading thoroughly in the bowl. Keep kneading until you notice that when you squeeze a handful, it holds its shape well.

11- Once you’ve achieved the desired consistency from the previous step, gather the mixture into a dough-like shape.

12- Take a piece of the dough with your fingers and squeeze and shape it into a small scrub ball. Ensure the ball weighs approximately 20 grams (0.70 oz). This size of DIY Korean Candy Scrub with Indigo balls is suitable for use on the arms and legs. For larger areas of the body, such as scrubbing the whole body, you can make the ball weigh 30 grams (1.05 oz).

Note: The quantities of ingredients used are sufficient to make eight scrub balls, each weighing 20 grams (0.70 oz).

13- Once you’ve finished rolling all the scrub balls, let them dry for 24 hours.

14- After the scrub balls have dried, dip some of them into a mixture of almond oil and granulated sugar for coating. Store three or four scrub balls in each container and sprinkle granulated sugar into each one.
