DIY Body Scrub with Musk: Luxurious Royal Spa Experience

Ingredients Needed

The ingredients are many, but then we are making a luxurious and royal body scrub! What do you expect?

• Sugar
• Musk cube. Take a piece of the musk cube, and grate it finely. You need 10 grams (0.35 oz).
• Sweet almond oil
• Mica color powder, gold or bronze
• Fragrance oil, musk
• Natural olive oil soap. Cut a piece and grate it finely. You need 1 rounded teaspoon.
• Vegetable glycerine
• Shea butter
• Coconut oil
• Polysorbate 80

Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products. Also, where an essential oil is included in my recipes, I utilize either of two types of essential oils: pure if added in drops, or diluted if mixed in grams—For diluted essential oil, mix 1 gram (0.035 oz) of pure essential oil with 100 grams (3.5 oz) of sweet almond oil or jojoba oil.

Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.

Explanation of spoon measurement

Spoon Measurement Terms

In some of our articles, and for non-liquid ingredients, we use the measurements ‘One Spoon,’ ‘Rounded Spoon,’ and ‘Heaped Spoon’, to measure the quantity of ingredients, rather than precise measurements in grams or ounces. This is because adding a little more or less of the ingredient does not affect the final product. Both tablespoons and teaspoons follow these guidelines. Here’s a brief explanation of these terms:

• One Spoon: Fill the ingredient in a measuring spoon, leveling it with a straight edge.
• Rounded Spoon: More than a level measurement, with the ingredient piled above the spoon’s edge in a rounded shape.
• Heaped Spoon: The non-liquid ingredient is scooped as high as possible on a spoon.

1- Start by putting 1 cup of sugar in a bowl.

2- Add 10 grams (0.35 oz) of finely grated musk.

3- Add 1/2 cup of sweet almond oil.

4- Use a small silicone spatula to mix thoroughly the contents.

5- In a separate beaker, put 1 rounded tablespoon of shea butter, and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil if it is in liquid form; if the coconut oil is semi-solid due to cold temperature, use 1 rounded tablespoon.

Heat and melt the contents of the beaker in a bain-marie (hot water bath). A bain-marie is done by placing the beaker containing the shea butter and coconut oil in a larger pot of hot steaming water. This will gradually melt the contents. Don’t allow them to boil.

6- Pour the melted mixture of shea butter and coconut oil over the main ingredients in the bowl.

7- Mix thoroughly.

8- Add and mix 1 rounded teaspoon of finely grated natural olive oil soap.

9- With the tip of a wooden popsicle stick, add a small quantity of mica color powder. You can choose a color that you prefer. I usually use gold or bronze color for this body scrub.

10- Mix the ingredients manually using a small spatula, then blend with an electric blender for 10-15 seconds. After blending, transfer the scrub back into the bowl to add the remaining ingredients.

11- Add 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable glycerine.

12- Add 3 grams (0.1 oz) of musk fragrance oil.

13- Add 3 grams (0.1 oz) of polysorbate 80.

14- Give the ingredients a final, thorough mix with the spatula.

15- Scoop the body scrub into a container, and you’re done! In the image below, I sprinkled some gold glitter on the surface for decoration.

How to Use: DIY Body Scrub with Musk

Here’s how to use your luxurious DIY Body Scrub with Musk:

1. Begin by wetting your skin in the shower or bath. Make sure your skin is clean and damp.
2. Take a small amount of the musk body scrub in your hand. You don’t need much; a little goes a long way.
3. Gently massage the scrub onto your skin using circular motions. Start from your feet and work your way up, paying extra attention to rough areas like elbows and knees.
4. Allow the scrub to sit on your skin for a minute or two to let the nourishing oils and musk fragrance soak in.
5. Rinse off the scrub thoroughly with warm water. You’ll notice how soft and refreshed your skin feels.
6. Pat your skin dry with a towel.
7. After using the scrub, remember to apply a moisturizer to lock in the hydration and further enhance the softness of your skin.

Use this indulgent body scrub a few times a week to maintain soft, radiant, and royally pampered skin. Please note that the shelf life of this scrub is approximately 3 months when properly stored.

Water can lead to bacterial growth and reduce the effectiveness of the scrub. Always scoop out the scrub with dry hands. After each use, seal the container tightly, and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
