Today, we will present you with a delightful citrus recipe for crafting a DIY Creamy Body Scrub.

Another article details making a DIY Creamy Scrub, but it is tailored for heels, and features a cream base and strawberry extract.

Today’s project takes a different route. Utilizing luxurious foaming bath butter and invigorating orange extract, we’re set to create a rejuvenating scrub that will leave your skin feeling refreshed and radiant. Let’s dive in!

Ingredients Needed

  • Foaming bath butter. You can buy it pre-made, or better make your own as per our article DIY Foaming Bath Butter.
  • Orange glycerine extract. Purchase it pre-made, or follow our recipe DIY Orange Extract for Skincare.
  • White sugar
  • Oily color powders, orange and green colors. The oily color powders are soluble in oil, glycerine and alcohol.
  • Polysorbate 80. This is one of the few synthetic compounds that we use in our DIY beauty tutorials. Polysorbate 80 is derived from natural sources, and helps blend oil and water-based ingredients together.
  • Orange carrier oil
  • Green tea carrier oil
  • Fragrance oil

If you opt to make your own foaming bath butter and orange glycerine extract, take your time. Each of these two DIY products require their own ingredients and process. But the experience and delight you attain make it very much worthwhile.

Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.

Tools Needed

  • Scale to weigh quantities
  • Large bowl
  • One smaller bowl
  • Teaspoon
  • Small whisk
  • Glass container or jar to store your DIY Creamy Body Scrub

Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.

9- Mix thoroughly the contents with the spoon.

10- Split the contents into two parts. We will give each part its own color and aroma.

11- To add the oily color powder, first mix a small quantity of the powder with some orange carrier oil. This ensures that, when incorporated in the scrub mixture, the color is properly dispersed.

12- Add first a few drops of green color to one part of the scrub mixture. Start with a small amount, mix thoroughly, and gradually increase the drops until you achieve the desired color. We add the oily color powder gradually because it colors quickly.

13- Repeat, but this time use orange color with the other part of the scrub mixture.

14- Add 7 drops of fragrance oil to each part of the mixture. Use different fragrances to your liking. If your fragrance oils are concentrated, like the ones I use here, add 7 drops at most to each part of the scrub mixture. If they are light, use 3 – 5 grams.
