- Beeswax
- Sweet almond oil
- Papaya fragrance oil
- Mica color powder, orange color
- Liquid vitamin E
Notes on Ingredients
Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.
When an essential oil is included, I use either concentrated or diluted essential oils. If using concentrated essential oils, use up to 0.5% by weight to ensure safety for all skin types. To use diluted essential oils, mix 1 gram (0.035 oz) of concentrated essential oil with 100 grams (3.5 oz) of sweet almond oil or jojoba oil.
If a recipe calls for fragrance oil, you can use diluted essential oil instead to benefit from both its scent and therapeutic effects. This provides a natural alternative to synthetic fragrance oils and offers additional benefits.
Tools Needed
- Scale to measure quantities
- Bowl
- Teaspoon
- Wooden popsicle stick
- Small container to store your DIY Scented Body Butter
Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.
Steps: DIY Scented Body Butter
1- Start by putting 25 grams (0.88 oz) of cocoa butter in a bowl.
2- Add 5 grams (0.17 oz) of beeswax.
3- Add 20 grams (0.70 oz) of sweet almond oil.
4- Heat and melt the contents of the bowl in a bain-marie (hot water bath). A bain-marie is done by placing the bowl containing the butter, beeswax, and oil in a larger pot of hot steaming water. This will gradually melt the contents. Avoid boiling.
5- With the tip of a wooden popsicle stick, add a small quantity of mica powder, orange color. The orange color goes well with the papaya fragrance that we will add later.
6- Mix the contents thoroughly with the popsicle stick.
7- Add 20 drops of papaya fragrance oil. You can add less if you prefer a milder scent.
8- Add 3 drops of liquid vitamin E.
9- Stir the mixture thoroughly.
10- Pour the mixture into a small container.
11- Allow the DIY Scented Body Butter to cool and solidify.
