Indulge in a pampering experience and discover the refreshing power of this exquisite body splash that you can easily make at home. In this article, we will take you through the process, providing you with all the necessary instructions and ingredients to create your very own DIY Rose Body Splash.
Ingredients Needed
- Polysorbate 80
- Distilled Water
- Diluted Rose Essential Oil. See note below.
- Water-soluble Color Powder. Don’t use mica color powder, because we have water in our body splash and mica color powders don’t mix in water.
- Medical glycerine
Notes on Ingredients
Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.
When an essential oil is included, I use either concentrated or diluted essential oils. If using concentrated essential oils, use up to 0.5% by weight to ensure safety for all skin types. To use diluted essential oils, mix 1 gram (0.035 oz) of concentrated essential oil with 100 grams (3.5 oz) of sweet almond oil or jojoba oil.
If a recipe calls for fragrance oil, you can use diluted essential oil instead to benefit from both its scent and therapeutic effects. This provides a natural alternative to synthetic fragrance oils and offers additional benefits.
Tools Needed
- Graduated measuring container to measure small liquid amounts, either in milliliters or in US fluid ounces
- Stainless steel cup
- Wooden popsicle
- Toothpick
- 100-milliliter spray bottle (3.5 US fluid ounces)
Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.
Steps: DIY Rose Body Splash
It is important to follow exactly the steps and use the indicated quantities below to ensure that your DIY Rose Body Splash succeeds.
1- Start by adding 10 milliliters (0.33 US fluid ounces) of polysorbate 80 into the cup.
2- Add equal amount of diluted rose essential oil, i.e. 10 milliliters (0.33 US fluid ounces). You can use any essential oil you like.
3- Mix them well for 2 minutes.
4- We are using a 100-milliliter spray bottle for our DIY Rose Body Splash. Fill it with 80 milliliters (2.7 US fluid ounces) of distilled water.
5- Water-soluble color powders are strong and color quickly. This is why we will add color to the water using the tip of a toothpick. We don’t want the body splash to have a strong color. Shake the bottle to spread the color.
- The water-soluble color powder you see in the image is orange, but it is actually yellow once mixed in the water.
- Since this is a water-soluble color powder, you have to mix it first and separately with the water in the spray bottle. Once the water is colored, we will add it to the polysorbate 80 and essential oil mixture in the cup.
6- Slowly pour the colored distilled water over the mixture of the polysorbate 80 and essential oil, while stirring continuously.
- The bubbles that appear on the surface while stirring will all disappear once we finish the DIY Rose Body Splash and keep it aside to settle.
7- Mix thoroughly.
8- Add 0.5 milliliters (0.017 US fl oz) of medical glycerine.
9- Mix well again.
10- The body splash is now done! Pour the mix into the spray bottle.
11- Leave it to settle for an hour.
12- Then place the spray bottle in the fridge for 2 hours.
13- Finally, take it out of the fridge, and keep it aside for 4 days to settle fully.
14- Now you can use it. Enjoy!
