Ingredients Needed
Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.
- Pure turmeric powder, intended specifically for skincare
- Xanthan gum powder
- Guar gum powder
- Distilled water
- Preservative: liquid germall plus
- Vegetable glycerine
Tools Needed
- Scale to weigh quantities
- 2 glass beakers
- Glass mixing rod
- Small whisk
- Small cup
- PH level test kit
- Small container to store your DIY Turmeric Gel Face Mask
Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.
Steps: DIY Turmeric Gel Face Mask
1- Start by pouring 86 grams (3.03 oz) of distilled water in a beaker.
2- In a second beaker, put 1.5 grams (0.053 oz) of guar gum powder.
3- Add 1.5 grams (0.053 oz) of xanthan gum powder to the guar gum powder.
4- Add 10 grams (0.35 oz) of vegetable glycerine to the xanthan gum and guar gum.
5- Using a glass mixing rod, stir rigorously the glycerine and the gum powders. The xanthan and guar gums dissolve easily in the glycerine.
6- After thoroughly mixing the glycerine and gum powders, slowly pour the mixture into the distilled water while stirring with a small whisk. Make sure to use all the mixture of glycerine and gums.
7- Mix thoroughly the contents with the whisk. The contents transform into a gel-like consistency.
8- Add 0.5 grams (0.017 oz) of liquid germall plus preservative.
9- Whip the contents with the small whisk.
10- Add 0.5 grams (0.017 oz) of pure turmeric powder (specially formulated for skincare).
11- Again, using the whisk, stir rigorously the contents.
Checking PH Level
As a final step, check the PH level of the gel face mask to ensure it is suitable for the skin.
12- In a small cup, mix two grams (0.07 oz) of the gel with eight grams (0.28 oz) of distilled water.
13- Take a strip from the PH test kit, and soak it in the mixture of gel and distilled water.
14- Check the color of the soaked strip; it should fall within the pH range of 4.5 to 5.5. If it is higher, lower it by adding a mixture of equal parts citric acid and distilled water (e.g., 10 grams or 0.35 oz each). Begin by adding two drops of the citric acid solution to the gel in the beaker, stir, and retest the pH level. Continue this process until it falls within the desired range of 4.5 to 5.5.
15- After successfully checking the PH level, scoop the gel into a small container, and you’re done!

We recommend using this mask once a week, with a maximum of two applications weekly. Consistency is key for best results.
