Ingredients Needed

  • Foaming bath butter base. You can buy it readymade or make it easily at home.
  • Matcha powder
  • Coconut oil
  • Polysorbate 80, optional
  • Mica color powder and oil-soluble color powder, both optional
  • Essential oil for fragrance, optional. Here, I will use mint with eucalyptus

Note: If you wish to use the DIY Matcha Creamy Soap on your face, then don’t put essential oil.

Notes on Ingredients

Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.

When an essential oil is included, I use either concentrated or diluted essential oils. If using concentrated essential oils, use up to 0.5% by weight to ensure safety for all skin types. To use diluted essential oils, mix 1 gram (0.035 oz) of concentrated essential oil with 100 grams (3.5 oz) of sweet almond oil or jojoba oil.

If a recipe calls for fragrance oil, you can use diluted essential oil instead to benefit from both its scent and therapeutic effects. This provides a natural alternative to synthetic fragrance oils and offers additional benefits.

Tools Needed

  • Scale to measure quantities
  • Bowl
  • Spoons
  • Whisk
  • Glass mixing rod
  • Jar or container for storing the creamy soap

Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.

But, have you noticed how dull the color is? There is nothing wrong with the color; it is after all the color of the matcha powder. But to me, it looks boring. So, we are going to liven it and make it more exciting.

Adding color and fragrance – Optional

I will use 2 colors: oil-soluble color powder for its vibrant green, and mica color powder to give the creamy soap a shine.

To achieve a proper mix with the creamy soap, we will first add both color powders to an essential oil. Once we dissolve the color powders in the essential oil, we will then add the color solution to the creamy soap.

6- in a separate small cup, put 6 grams (0.21 oz) of an essential oil that you like. Here, I will use an essential oil made of both mint and eucalyptus.

7- Using the tip of a glass mixing rod, add a little of the mica color powder to the essential oil, and mix.

8- Add a little of the oil-soluble color powder to the mica powder and essential oil. Mix well to dissolve all the powder.

10- Finally, add 3 grams (0.10 oz) of polysorbate 80. Mix thoroughly.

Including polysorbate 80 in the DIY Matcha Creamy Soap recipe serves two purposes. Firstly, it acts as an emulsifier, ensuring a non-greasy feel on the skin after use. Secondly, it helps prevent any color staining on the skin, especially when using higher amounts of oil-soluble color powder.

11- Scoop the creamy soap into a container for storage.
