Discover the magic of crafting your own skincare with our guide to DIY Body Butter with Amber Scent. In this series debut on Oriental body butters, we unveil a straightforward recipe that promises both indulgence and efficacy.

Experience the luxurious fragrance of amber as you pamper your skin with this simple yet effective homemade treat. Let’s begin this journey together!

Ingredients Needed

  • Refined shea butter, white and odorless. Refined shea butter undergoes a process that removes the color and unpleasant odor of unrefined shea butter. However, this refining process also strips away many of its natural healing properties. While refined shea butter remains a good moisturizer, it lacks the full spectrum of natural skin-regenerating benefits found in unrefined shea butter.
  • Oily color powder, soluble in oils
  • Fragrance oil, amber scent
  • Vitamin E capsule for skin

Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.

Tools Needed

  • Small stainless steel bowl or cup
  • Teaspoon
  • Toothpick
  • Wooden popsicle stick
  • 20-gram (0.70-oz) container to store your DIY Body Butter with Amber Scent

Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.

Spoon Measurement Terms

In some of our articles, and for non-liquid ingredients, we use the measurements ‘One Spoon,’ ‘Rounded Spoon,’ and ‘Heaped Spoon’, to measure the quantity of ingredients, rather than precise measurements in grams or ounces. This is because adding a little more or less of the ingredient does not affect the final product. Both tablespoons and teaspoons follow these guidelines. Here’s a brief explanation of these terms:

  • One Spoon: Fill the ingredient in a measuring spoon, leveling it with a straight edge.
  • Rounded Spoon: More than a level measurement, with the ingredient piled above the spoon’s edge in a rounded shape.
  • Heaped Spoon: The non-liquid ingredient is scooped as high as possible on a spoon.

1- Begin by putting two heaped teaspoons of refined shea butter in a stainless steel bowl.

2- Gently heat and melt the shea butter in a bain-marie (hot water bath). A bain-marie is made by placing the bowl in a larger pot of hot, steaming water. This will gradually heat and melt the shea butter. Stir while the butter is melting. Avoid boiling.

3- After the shea butter has melted, remove the bowl from the bain-marie.
