Ingredients Needed
Choose high-quality ingredients to boost the effectiveness and safety of your DIY beauty products.
- Cornstarch
- Sodium Bicarbonate
- Citric Acid
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Shampoo or Shower Gel (you need one tablespoon only)
- Mica Color Powders: Purple, orange, blue, and pink
- Fragrance Oil
Tools Needed
- Scale to weigh quantities
- Large bowl
- 3 medium bowls
- Measuring cups (1 cup, 1/2 cup)
- Tablespoon
- Small silicone spatula
- Wooden popsicle sticks
- 2 small containers or jars to store your DIY Bath Bubbles Powder
Prior to use, ensure that both your utensils and containers are properly cleaned and disinfected. Wash them with warm soapy water, dry with a tissue, and then sanitize by spraying with 70% medical alcohol. Wipe them clean and let them air dry before use.
Steps: DIY Bath Bubbles Powder
1- Begin by placing 1 cup of sodium bicarbonate in a large bowl.
2- Add 1/2 cup of cornstarch to the sodium bicarbonate.
3- Add 1/2 cup of citric acid to the mixture.
4- Mix the ingredients thoroughly using a silicone spatula. Ensure a uniform blend by breaking down any clumps and making sure all components are well incorporated.
5- Add 2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil to the ingredients.
6- Mix thoroughly with the spatula.
7- Add 2 more tablespoons of sweet almond oil (total so far 4 tablespoons of almond oil).
8- Mix with the spatula, then with your hand, kneading the contents repeatedly to break any lumps that might have formed.
9- Add 1 tablespoon of shampoo or shower gel to the mixture.
10- Mix the shampoo (or shower gel), kneading the ingredients thoroughly by hand.
11- Divide the contents into four parts as shown in the image below. We will apply different colors.
12- With the tip of a wooden popsicle stick, add a touch of purple mica color powder to one part.
13- Mix thoroughly with the popsicle stick.
14- Similarly, add a hint of orange, blue, and pink mica color powder to the remaining parts, and mix thoroughly.
15- Add 6 drops of fragrance oil to each part. Here, I am using jojoba fragrance.
16- Mix rigorously each part with a popsicle stick.
17- The DIY bath bubbles powder, in its four colors, is now ready. Before storing the powder in a container, allow it to ventilate for a short period to ensure any lingering moisture dissipates.
18- Let’s put two colors in each container:
- With your fingers, scoop one color into a small container, pressing the powder down to fill half of the container.
- Top the container with another color.
- Again, use your fingers to compress the powder, ensuring an even distribution and filling the container.
- Repeat for the other container, using the remaining two colors.
19- And that’s it. Enjoy!
